It seems that most American’s have the same idea every year for a New Year’s resolution: lose weight. Every January, fitness centers across the country become overpopulated with fleetingly motivated individuals wanting to shed some pounds. Although some may reach success from this method, fitness center traffic tends to slow down by the time Valentine’s Day rolls around.

This upcoming year try a different, but still healthy, New Year’s resolution. Dental health care is a simple practice that can produce excellent outcomes. Here are some ways to improve your health that are easier to stick with than that expensive gym membership:

• Brush at least twice a day
• Floss at least once a day
• Get your teeth cleaned twice a year

Besides these well-known dental hygiene rules (that are too commonly ignored), here are some other ways to improve both your dental and overall health:

• Quit smoking
• Slow down on alcohol
• Eat more fruits and vegetables
